The dockyard facilities at A.F. Theriault & Son are amongst the best equipped in all of Atlantic Canada. With state-of-the-art equipment and a first rate professional workforce, our boatyard can manufacture, repair, refit or convert a wide range of boats up to 150’ (45m) in length. BOAT CONSTRUCTION - ALUMINUM, COMPOSITES, STEEL
Steel, aluminum and fiberglass boats up to 130’ (39.6m) can be built at our shipyard, including any variation of fishing, patrol, research, workboat, yacht or passenger vessel in monohull or catamaran style. There are three (3) modern buildings to accomplish various types of projects:
- Steel Construction: 180' x 60' x 55' (55m x 18.3m x 16.8m).
An additional construction bay is attached to this building: 120' x 40' (35.6m x 12m)
- Aluminum Construction: 125' x 60' x 30' (38m x 18.3m x 9.2m)
- Composites Construction: 125' x 60' x 30' (38m x 18.3m x 9.2m)

Propeller Shop
Full repairs and rebuilding of a variety of propellers are available in the Propeller Shop. Computer analysis programs aid in the reconstruction process by providing data for the optimal pitch, size and power. Our boatyard has a large selection of high quality propellers for sale from many name brand manufacturers.

Advanced Composites Shop
Panels for boat construction, reinforced with composites, are prepared in this workshop. It is also used as an infusion room to produce strong, lightweight and highly efficient panels for decks and bulkheads on boats.

Stockroom
The Stockroom carries a large stock of marine materials at any one time. We are certified distributors for welding gases and consumables, hydraulic hoses and fittings, paints, tools, marine safety clothing and life jackets, propellers and marine hardware.

Steel and Aluminum Fabricating/Welding Shop
The Fabrication/Welding Shop capabilities include building assembly components for the construction of new vessels along with the repair or replacement of components for repair. The large cutting table along with its numerous equipment means that almost any job can be undertaken.

Paint Shop
The Paint Shop facility houses the equipment used for the sandblasting or water blasting of hulls. Also contained here are industrial sprayers for applications of epoxy paints and specialty paints.

Machine Shop
This modern Machine Shop is where almost all components of deck equipment and power train parts are fabricated or repaired, for example: net reels, winches, propulsion shafts, etc.

Marine Railways
The boatyard has marine railways used for repairs and refits. The tides at our boatyard drop by as much as 18 feet, making for an ideal natural location for repairs at low tide.
- Railway #1: 600 tonne cradle 120' x 40' (36.6 m x 12.2 m)
- Railway #2: 300 tonne cradle 60' x 40' (18.3 m x 12.2 m)
- Railway #3: 300 tonne cradle 100' x 38' (30.5 m x 11.6 m)

Cabinets, custom-built furnishings and finish work for vessel interiors are manufactured and assembled by highly skilled carpenters in this shop.

Fabricating and servicing any system for fishing requirements is accomplished in the Hydraulic Shop. There is also a large stock of hydraulic hoses and fittings.

The Pipe Fitting facility includes servicing or installing all types of valves, pumps, and fire systems for the boatbuilding industry.
